The picture says it all...

There is often an image conjured up when one thinks of yoga; the image of yogis standing on their heads and twisted up in pretzels or tree-hugging, granola crunching hippy-dippy types practicing on a mountaintop. The om-ming and chanting sometimes associated with yoga can often be a little too eclectic and intimidating for the average person and quite often the stigma that is thought of with yoga prevents people from event getting on a mat and trying it.

While I love my fair share of good granola and am all for “greening” the planet, I am definitely not a stereotypical yoga type (if there even in such a thing!). I am an aggressively passionate Hot Yoga enthusiast (that’s right, I said aggressively passionate); “Type A” corporate gal by day, Hot Yoga devotee by night and weekend. I have fallen in love with yoga and it’s many benefits and I am here to bring you yoga from my point of view, and share with you all of the wonderful yoga things I can get my little yogi hands on.

I have developed this blog as a chance to share my passion with you.  Inspiring articles, videos, reviews, news and updates from the yoga community, yoga things I love and so much more. Mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, yogis, yoginis, yogi wannabes, yoga enthusiasts, butchers, bakers and yes, even candle stick makers are all welcome!

Ever since stepping into the heated room and onto the yoga mat in October of 2008, I’ve never looked back (except when doing a backward bend or in camel pose). I first approached yoga as a great workout as I was looking for something that would challenge my body. Stick me in a room heated to 37 Celsius while bending and twisting for 90 minutes sounded like the ultimate physical challenge to me (hello Type A!). And sure enough, after that first class I knew I was hooked.

But what surprised me even more than the great workout was the flood of changes and learning’s that came with my new “fitness find”. Not only did I feel stronger and healthier than I ever had before, but I suddenly had more insight, more patience and more understanding of situations and matters around me. I was learning things about myself I had never realized, discovering my passions, my likes and dislikes; I was having great insights into my life and what I wanted and where I wanted to go; I was learning to take things slowly and also learning that taking things one day at a time or not being perfect all of the time was okay, and actually a good thing! Who was this new person I was uncovering? I wasn’t sure….but I knew I loved it and I knew this was going to become a new way of life for me.

I know not everyone loves hot yoga (or even yoga for that matter) the way I do, so this is where I really come in. My goal is to help you find out what works for you. Let me be your guide in working out the details to exploring, discovering, experincing, learning and practicing yoga.

I also hope to share my personal insights and experiences with yoga and life, as well as my story and adventures in becoming a certified yoga teacher, and one day opening my own studio. All he while working towards achieving my many other goals along the way (and there are a lot of them)!

I hope you will join me in my journey to get centered in life and on the mat.
